If you’re looking to restore volume, lift, and glow, you’re in the right place. Two popular options for facial rejuvenation—PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) fillers and Hyaluronic Acid (HA) fillers—each offer their own unique benefits. Let’s dive into what makes each of these treatments special so you can decide which one’s calling your name.
Derma PRP Fillers: The BioLift with Lasting Benefits on Collagen
What is Derma PRP Filler?
PRP fillers start with your own blood, which we collect in-office to create a gel-like filler rich in growth factors. This no-migration filler provides an instant lift and softer fullness that brings back that youthful structure where hollowing was much less noticeable. But here’s where PRP stands out: it keeps working over time to stimulate collagen and elastin, adding benefits long after the initial treatment. This is one of the biggest benefits over HA filler.
Benefits of Derma PRP Fillers:
100% Yours: PRP is made entirely from your own cells, ensuring compatibility. No artificial components in this product. IMO the future of fillers.
Immediate Lift & Lasting Skin Health: You’ll notice a refreshed look right away, plus ongoing improvements as PRP stimulates collagen over the next few weeks. This PRP filler will give this really great glow to the skin.
No Migration: This PRP filler is all natural, so rather than migrating and moving away you body will slowly absorb this filler, leaving behind more collagen and thicker skin. (after multiple sessions)
The ONLY Option for Under-eye Bags: PRP filler will thicken up undereye skin so you can't see the muscles and blood vessels under it, leading to that darker appearance.
Smooth, Full, and Refined: Some studies show PRP can also help smooth out acne scars, giving you that extra glow and a smoother, more glossy texture to your skin.
Maintenance: Patients are being seen every 4-5 months for their next session to maintain that subtle, yet youthful volume. This allows for a NON-STOP stimulation of collagen and elastin leading to younger skin that is long lasting.
General Cost: Depending on your location, this treatment can cost anywhere from $1000-$3000 per treatment (based on areas getting treated and amount of product used).
If you’re looking for a natural, subtle enhancement with long-term skin benefits, PRP might just be the ideal choice for you. You'll get continuous natural volume, with your skin getting healthier with each month that passes. This option is great for the younger patients getting filler for the first time. Its safe, wont migrate and will give you a better idea of what you'll look like at full correction.
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Fillers: The OG Filler
What about HA fillers?
Hyaluronic Acid fillers are loved for their immediate effects, giving you volume and structure on the spot. HA is a hydrating molecule already found in your skin, so adding it back in targeted areas creates fullness and lift where you need it most. It’s perfect for defining cheekbones, smoothing lines, snatching a jawline and enhancing the lips.
Benefits of HA Fillers:
Instant Results: Leave the office with a more lifted, defined look immediately.
Customizable Volume: HA fillers allow us to sculpt and add volume precisely where you want it. It can also be used to hydrate skin.
Long-Lasting, Flexible: Depending on the area, you’ll enjoy results that last 6-12 months, and we can adjust or remove filler if needed.
HA fillers are ideal if you’re looking for a noticeable, structured lift in specific areas with quick, stunning results.
Candidates: Patients who are 50+ are better suited for this treatment due to the robust nature of these fillers. Patients who are younger can have great results with HA filler, but must be cautious with whom they go to, to ensure they are getting overfilled or develop the "pillow-face".
Maintenance: After initial treatment/correction, you should expect to be seen for smaller corrections 12-18 months out from the original appointment. Remember, you can't have a great body after one workout, it takes repeated visits. Same goes for facial volume loss and treatment with fillers.
Cost: HA fillers are more expensive when compared to a full face treatment with PRP filler. HA Fillers will last longer, provide more lift and definition and is generally priced higher due to industry costs. For a full face correction, done with a medical provider who is license and trained properly should run you around $8000 for your initial series. Maintenance sessions cost less, because the foundation has been built. Think of it like building a house vs decorating it.
Which Treatment Fits Your Goals?
Here’s a quick summary to help guide your decision:
PRP Fillers: Choose PRP if you want a natural, softer enhancement with ongoing skin benefits and subtle fullness. Perfect for an “effortless” glow. PRP filler is a great option when you're wanting something that wont migrate and cause "Pillow-Face".
Amazing for younger patients who are getting into fillers for the first time. It will allow you to see what you'll look like at full correction, while getting improved skin.
PRP is more powerful in your younger years, so patients 50 and below with minimal medical problems have the best regenerative results.
HA (Hyaluronic Acid) Fillers: Go for HA if you want precise, immediate volume in specific areas like the chin, lips, or jawline. Great for those who love a little more structure and definition. So if you're looking to create some structure in your face, this is your best bet. Most importantly, these last longer than PRP will.
Caveat here is that HA filler comes in many different flavors. By that, I mean that there are a few companies in the US that offer fillers and they are NOT the same. Some HA fillers when migrated can be very difficult to correct because of how they are made. You'll see this in companies that created filler 25+ years ago. Newer companies have since created HA fillers that are WAY MORE dynamic, easier to manage if a complication arises and doesn't cause late onset reactions.
What Our Patients Results Look Like:
Below is a patient in her mid 20's who came in for early signs of volume loss in the face (cheek area under the eyes). This was leading to a more tired look and she wanted a refresh. We did our PRP filler in the areas listed below and did HA filler in her lips for more plump and hydration.
Good Results Take Time:
To achieve this result, it took around 8 months
We treated her skin with a series of BioRePeel (a chemical peel). This helped to tighten skin, improve texture and even out skin tone.
After the skin was improved, we then moved onto lip filler for hydration and structure.
Next was PRP filler for volume replacement to revese the clock and give her a more fresh look.
Maintenance is scheduled out 6 months from last Derma session. Lips are done 1 year after last treatment.
